Ear Microsurgery and Hearing Restoration Department
The Ear Microsurgery and Hearing Restoration Department of Armenia RMC functions since 1988. The Department was founded by Kim Shukuryan, Chief Otorhinolaryngologist of the ASSR Ministry of Health (1970-1990).
The Department employs experienced specialists. They periodically participate in training courses and attend international conferences. Microscope is used in all surgeries carried out in this department.
The Ear Microsurgery and Hearing Restoration Department has also cabinets designed for sing language teacher and logopedist.
Hearing prosthesis cabinet carries out individual choice and processing of modern hearing devices.
The Department carries out all types of hearing restoration surgeries:
- Stapedoplasty is carried out during otosclerosis
- Myringo - Tympanoplasty is performed during the eardrum perforation
- Sanitation surgeries are carried out during chronic suppurative otitis
- Shunting is performed during chronic secretory middle otitis
The Department carries out extensive research of hearing disorders:
- Tone audiometry of threshold and above threshold
- Impedance audiometry
- Computer based audiometry
During 28 years of Department's activity 14 clinical residents were trained in the Center, most of whom had significant successes abroad.
